Form Follows Kinship

Fine arts in Indonesia are developing very dynamically, following the movement and power of the collective, the power of the curator and the power of the market. Surprises continue to come every day, the names of young artists and curators appear, art students participate in art fairs, researchers become artists, gallerists become curators, etc. All easily jump from one position to another, without any clear provisions or standards. Annual art events are held and the names of the artists displayed are always “insider”, the proximity factor is always the main thing.

Talking about the above, I am interested in updating or appropriating the modern thought of ‘Form Follows Function” to “Form Follows Kinship”. Kinship which means kinship or family here is not limited by blood relations, but a concept that explains the terms insider and outsider. Forming its own circles, moving and complementing each other organically. The concept of thought is then applied into a performative form in the form of a tattoo.
